1st to 6th Classes

Accelerated Christian Education

The Core curriculum provides students in these classes with academics, skill building, reading practice, character and wisdom training, and knowledge of God and His Word. This begins with reading development in our Infants classes and progresses through primary school, giving students a solid foundation for pursuing their life goals.

Each core subject consists of 12 PACEs (Packet of Accelerated Christian Education) per level.  Our primary school covers levels RR - 7, (8 levels in total).  A student only advances to post-primary level when he has completed all work in these levels.  Progress through the work is dependent on mastery of the material.  Individuals master different materials at different times so it is rare than any two students are on the same PACEs at the same time!  The curriculum is self-contained and self-instructing.  This means that the children are not "taught" by a teacher, but rather they "learn" from the curriculum.  This enables us, as a school, to facilitate the learning of many individuals at any time.

Typical students in these classes work daily on one PACE in each subject, usually five subjects at any one time, and may be performing at varying levels depending on their individual abilities.  There is no pressure on one student to keep up with any other student, and no student is held back to accommodate another student.

For transferring students we administer diagnostic tests.  The results help to identify academic weaknesses and prescribe a path to help students catch up. Most complete at least 72 PACEs per year, while maintaining academic balance by completing about the same number of PACEs in each assigned subject.  This means they aim to complete 12 PACEs in 6 subjects each academic year.

Students who are more skilled may progress at a faster rate or may accelerate in the areas of their academic strengths. Slower students are encouraged to do their best but are able to work at their levels of proficiency and proceed as they are capable.
